Although manufacturers are producing 1x4, 2x2, and 2x4 flat panels as a standard to be used in drop ceilings that is not the only application.
These LED flat panel lights can be mounted directly to a drywall ceiling. Since they can have a small profile as little as ½ inch, there is no real need to recess them. These panels can also be mounted to a wall, under a cabinet, or suspend them from the ceiling.
