Ballast Factor Comparison

Ballast Factor Comparison
Electronic Ballast Efficiency Comparison
Ballast factor efficiency refers to the actual lumen output for a specific lamp and ballast system as compared to its rated lumen output. Or, commercial ballast lumen output divided by American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standard ballast output.
In general a ballast factor is a crucial measurement of the light output of a fixture. At warehouse-lighting.com, we offer three different types of ballast factors: low, normal and high efficiency ballast factors.
This is what you need to consider when choosing a ballast factor:
LOW BALLAST FACTOR
.70-.80
This type of ballast can save energy, however that means it produces less light. It is best suited for retrofit applications or in areas with less crucial visual tasks, like aisles, hallways and computer rooms. Note: to avoid a reduction in lamp life, low ballast factor ballasts should operate lamps in rapid start mode only.
NORMAL BALLAST FACTOR
.85-1.00
Normal ballast factors are considered the industry light standard with moderate savings compared HO ballasts. They are best used in regular office, residential or commercial settings.
HIGH BALLAST FACTOR
1.01-1.20
High Ballast factors create a greater lumen output and therefore brighter light. They are best for areas that require more than ample light like studios, warehouses and manufacturing facilities.
